Аптеки Харкова працюють попри постійну небезпеку
The same Ukrainian woman is in the both photos. She is the pharmacist Nina Oleksandrivna Zhuk. The first photo was taken before February 24, 2022 at her workplace in Apteka 9·1·1 in Kharkiv. The second – after the bombing of the central part of the city.
During the shelling, the pharmacist received serious facial injuries. She will have numerous surgeries and a long rehabilitation ahead of her to return to normal life. Treatment and prosthetics, plastic surgery, the help of a mammologist – this is not a complete list of procedures that she’ll need to do in the near future.
Unfortunately, this photo is not the first and not the only proof that the occupiers are violating all international conventions and doctrines. Proof of cruelty, meanness and inhumanity.
At the same time, the photos also prove once again that despite the constant danger, healthcare workers are ready to help others and save lives. Even now, in the intervals between shellings, they go to work in Kharkiv, Kherson, Berdyansk, Kakhovka and many other settlements. Some of them live in pharmacies or hospitals because they lost their homes due to the war. Every day, they risk the most valuable thing they have left – their own lives – so that others can get help.
